RiRi lives up to the full couture heights of her neo-punk do in this editorial “Extreme Couture” in Italian gospel of the Fashion Bible, shot to punk perfection by one Steven Klein. I’m so proud of this new Rihanna; ever since that incident, ahem, with a certain Mr Brown, Rihanna has been working a tough, warrior-princess brand of fashion that takes no prisoners, never appearing as anything less than a rock star of a futuristic time space, and always keeping the right balance between sexy and slick. It’s as if she is creating a superhero aura through her clothes that will carry her through what must be an incredibly difficult time. But furthermore, along with a leotarded Beyowolf, they are adding a punk and fetish feel to what before has otherwise been the flowers, hearts and chocolate butterflies femininity of RnB singers, a la Mademoiselle MiMi. But kudos to Rihanna, who is doing an altogether more Grace Jones-ey, androgynous and braver thang than Jay-Z or Daddy Knowles would ever let Beyonce do.
